[T3] Smoking Ignition, Whining Generator

Hello All,

Had a problem today.  Started up the old '67 Square and the generator
was really whining and screaming.  Then, the ignition switch starts to
smoke.  My car is totally stock. Turned off the engine, discontected the
battery.  Any ideas as to the cause?  What about a cure?
