I just want to say, regarding the message below, it's good to be back. Somehow several months ago I no longer received the type 3 list digest. At first I thought it was just a glitch in the host's computer & soon we'd be getting the posts we'd missed. Well, soon turned into a couple months & I checked the vwtype3.org site & found that the list was going on without me. I wasn't miffed. Maybe it was just a confusing time in my life, for my eyes had wandered from my first (VW) love & looked toward Westfalias. So, in addition to searching all over the country for a good one in my price range I subscribed to the Type 2 list. And after several months of that I must say again, it's good to be back. I can't count how many times the admin had to kill vicious, antagonistic threads & once when I tried to lighten the atmosphere with a little humor, such as it was worth, I got a message saying, "Funny, but we don't allow anything 'off-topic' until Friday. Cut it out." And they only had probably 75% of the messages that the type 3 list does on a daily basis. So, it's nice to be able to suggest ham sandwiches, and it's not even Friday! My 71 Square is awaiting the return of my Makita recip saw from the shop with which I was making replacement heater channels, after the installation of which I will install the new fiberglass pans, install the fenders, have her painted & then.... My 66 Type 3 Ghia I pick up from the paint shop tomorrow & put her back together. Planning on taking her on a long road trip to South Carolina for Christmas. I'm going to work on setting up a website & I'll post pictures of the heater channel repairs as well as before/after pics of the ghia.
