At this time the gas in leaking OUT. While you're running there should be a vacuum there which will pull air in. There's no way that you can expect these shafts to seal, but excessive wear can make control and mixture problems. It sounds like you have the right idea, but I don't know what the bushings should be made of. I would go for brass if I had the choice, because they would have the same thermal expansion as the casting (or is the throttle body steel?). RIMCO charges $30 @ for this service. Call them at 800-331-4775 and let us know what kind of bushings they use.
