I had a mini-fricken-van rear end my Jetta in August. No amount of light would've stopped the moron because, and I quote him, "...I only looked down for a second and when I looked up all I saw were your brake lights." Drivers have to be aware of what's going on around them, be focused on the task of driving, and keep a safe distance from other drivers. In our cases the offending drivers were not doing so. As long as your lights are fully functioning and using the right bulb the lights are just fine. No extra amount of brake lights will keep idiots from hitting you.
