No, they are brighter than ordinary sealed beams, but require no 
more power.

I added a quartz halogen driving light to my 68 about 25 years ago. 
The first thing that I discovered was that there was almost no 
opportunity to use it. There is almost always oncoming traffic, even 
in Wisconsin. Think about this before you bother with it: How often 
do you use your high beams now?
