I also am in need of a paint job but Well you might want to wait until you've got that paint job, unless you're already swimming that is. But seriously, yes it is a pain in the butt and kinda messy but totally do-able by anyone with a bit of patience. The only tricks are to take your time and apply the adhesive properly (one coat both surfaces, let flash, a second light coat on the rubber, apply quickly and accurately. work in short sections, ~6" at a time). Buy good quality rubber too, and expect to pay dearly for the good stuff (try West Coast Metric). Are you familiar with Shaffner Motors in Kirkland? Kind of a drive for you but the owners and mechanics are purely top notch and extremely helpful. I bought most of my parts for my first VW (a Westy) through them strictly for the advice that I `pAL them.
