Bill asked about model letters on Type 3s. Here's what I know and can remember, but maybe others have extra ones. I don't think there are any early ones apart from N and S, but they didn't label the basic ones with N. Later on, they made a Fastback TA (basic), TL (de Luxe trim), and TLE (TL + FI), and a Squareback A (basic), L (de Luxe trim), E (FI), and LE (de Luxe + FI). The Variant II is6Ï: axle late type; don't know if it is badged differently. There could be other specs I haven't seen, but this covers the UK scene. Importers decided on the models they would import, and local laws differ, so many variations exist in the model specs, designations and labelling. Dave.
