I have solex 32's, and the last (only) time I rebuilt them I noticed that the idle mixture screws didn't both seat the same. When screwed all the way in, one sticks farther into the barrel of the carb then the other. Like it got tightened way too much one time and screwed up the seats. Anyway, this makes it hard to syncronize, because opening both screws the same number of turns doesn't let the same amount of gas in on both sides. The last time I tried to get them synced, I just stuck my ear to the carb and adjusted until the gas flow past the needle sounded about the same. I know, not very accurate. Question is, what can be done about this? Are there any other tricks to getting the mixtures equal? Is it possible to fix the seats, maybe with brass inserts or something? My gas milage is still pretty good (31 hwy), but I don't know if that would be effected by a lean/rich mixture.
