I was quoted $375 new, $220 rebuilt a couple of years back. I bought a used one at a swap meet, spun OK when dry, motor seals leaked like a sieve when connected to a fuel line, caveat emptor. I was able to reuse the pump head on one that the motor was still good on, so it wasn't $10 totally wasted. The best way to check them out is to connect three short chunks of fuel line up to the pump and get a small can of solvent, like naptha(not gasoline). A couple of small alligator clip extensions to a battery charger connected to the terminals will soon tell you what you have. Even if the motor runs you may still have a bad pump head. Most of mine had the check valve tip break and then all the fuel got pumped back into the tank, no pressure in the ring. This is a sealed part with no replacements available, new pump time if that happens. If all the solvent runs out of the middle one and not much out of the outer one, you've got a chance of having a decent pump. Not much you can do if you've got a bad one except trade it in for a rebuilt. I had one that the motor got gummed up from sitting, I car}arked the pump head and took it off, then got the motor freed up. Put it back together and had a hell of time getting the pump lined up. Apparently .001 of an inch is the difference between pumping a whole bunch and not pumping at all. Pumped solvent through it for about 8 hours, got a ton of crap out of it and it lasted for about 5 years before the check valve tip broke off.
