I haven't had much luck fixing them, but then again I haven't been motivated much because I really haven't had much problem with them. In my experience they never go bad as long as you keep the tank clean and the overflow hose intact. Storing them dry also seems to cause the O-rings to dry out and shrink, making them leak. Sometimes they come back after a few days with gas in them.
