I remmeber a old hoover sermon about Electronic ignition, and his take on th different types- His bet was old a one that didn't replace the points, but instead used them as a relay to fire the larger ignition module. As a result, the points carried about 1000 times less current and would only expire after abouŽYAnd only then because the rubbing block would wear down. Apparently, they didn't need adjustment or cleaning due to the lack of point-pitting current. His other point in favor of this style was that in case of emergency, only one wire needs switched to restore it to stock operation. He didn't like the reliance on proprietary tech that isn't fixable (or replacable) on the road, I guess. He sold me, i must say- Apparently its the one for sale in the JCWitney catalog- he had the number posted, but that was before the dark times of the Type 2 list..... -rj >---------- >From: Steven Ayres[SMTP:comwest@well.com] >Sent: Monday, April 19, 1999 1:35 PM >To: type3-d@vwtype3.org >Subject: Re: [T3] Karl's Kustom, electronic ignition > > >JMac=> => Anybody have experience with Karl's Kustom in Phoenix? > >Yeah, I've bought stuff there on occasion, and they usually come out for >the big shows.
