I will add this...After twisting 3 of those X shaped tire irons into
pretzels (or two pieces) I've found a combination of the standing on the
braker bar, AND a good whack with a two pound sledge on the end of the
socket...this will usually cause you to descend quickly but it works for me.
The wierd thing is ...I don't tighten my lugs *that* tight! This never
happened with my 63 beetle, but is always the case with my 69 square, and
my dear departed 66. I think they were a beta version of self tightening
fasteners.. :)
