Ok so here's the whole story... I hope you all will forgive me.... the fasty hasn't yet.... Day before the San Jose show... doing some work on the fasty... oil change and such... (and I suggest that you *NEVER* work on your car the day before a show).... buddy who has been working on volks for years suggests I clean up the engine compartment.... I was hesistant.. but he was confident... my mistake number 1. ... sprayed some "electrical cleaning" stuff on the engine... and scrubbed around with a clean paint brush....and proceeded to spray it off with a garden hose.... *gasp* .... well never the less.... at the end of the day... it wouldn't start.... checked all wires... made sure they were dry and had a tight fit... finally started..... but sounded bad..... pulled injector wire #3.... no difference.... #4 engine cut #1 no difference #2 engine cut.... drove it around the block.... no power... made a shape turn to the left... engine sped up... then lost it again.... no prob... got water Öjã›ist right?... .well... dist halfway out I decide to just blow the water out with air compressor.... engine running now... but still small lack of power.... thought I messed up the timimg... next day.... drove a few hundred miles round trip... no probs except hard starting and loss of power.... got home... pulled injector wire #1 .... small engine cut... #2 big engine cut... #3 no difference #4 big engine cut.... noticed that the injector wire plug was broke... "well duh... that's why!!!"... I did put try and connect those two wires to the posts in the injector by hand.... got small sparks outta them...last night I got a new one... thought that'd fix the prob..... it didn't seem to help....pulled injector wire #1 .... small engine cut... #2 big engine cut... #3 no difference #4 big engine cut.... I am getting spark to that cylinder.... pulled the dist out.... pulled the trigger contacts out... cleaned them with a busniess card and alchohol.... all back together... still no difference.... it was late last night... I thought to pull the plug... to see if it was fouled.... but couldn't find the right deep socket... what's the size?.... my logic says it could be only two things.... bad plug or bad injector.... is there any way to test this?...and why do #'s 2 and 4 make such a differnce.... and #1 didn't?.... are #1 and 3 common pistons...? What say ye.... Robert "Obi-wan, you are our only hope" Braun '69 fastback FI Standard _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
