[T3] Kernel of truth..

All!

Rather impressive body count from my "original mile baja" post, this old prankster has had a good day indeed! Thanks!

The scary part was the p-mail I got expressing interest in seeing it done! More than a couple of "go for its". <shudder> Those folks will remain anonymous.

The cool part of the story is that the car as I described it ACTUALLY EXISTS! I'm crappin' you negative. I DO have a friend in Tennessee who found the car in a warehouse, original miles, carb linkage missing, and it's really quite cherry though not totally perfect. It's light blue, and the interior and rubber is about as nice as you could ever hope for. He got the car for himself, and despite a lot of not so subtle hints about me wanting to own it, is keeping it. The story is somebody parked it in the warehouse with the broken carb linkage and rather than fix it they donated it to a national charitable organization who endorsed the title, but never transferred it----in 1971!!! He has the original title, with all the spaces filled out rendering it, unfortunately, untransferrable. He might have it titled by now. We know folks in Georgia.

Rest assured if I ever wind up with this car (hope and keep trying) I would never alter a hair on it's bone stock head. I would drive it daily though, which might be considered just as bad by some folks who feel low mileage originals should only be in motion long enough to get on and off trailers at shows. Whatever you want to do, resto, mild, or the dark side, is cool with me. To mess up that car though just wouldn't be right.

Happy April!
