[T3] Gauge Removal - How to??

Hi,
   I was wondering about guage removal. How do you guys do it?
I tried to get my fuel guage cluster out last week to replace
some bulbs and couldn't do it. I know there are sprung hold downs
on each side that need to be pressed in towards the gauge, but I
couldn't get both down together - lot's of working room up under
the dash in there!  ;^)

Any tip's would be appreciated. Anything to look out for while
in there so as to not cause more problems than I have? Thanks
