Hello all! I've been reading (lurking) on the list now for about 2 weeks and I have to say, I'm impressed. The number of email messages this list generates is impressive. Anyway, last weekend I scored my second Fastback in the last 16 years. You see, the california smog laws would not let me licence my last '69 FB several years after I bought it. It was powered with a 914 2.0 dual webbered engine and the state thought it would be better to have the original FI pancake engine in it. I then decided to sell it off...the fellow who bought it said smogging it was 'no problem for (me) him'. That kind of stuff really ticked me off. Then began my 16 year VW absence. This was 1982. Well, last june I picked up my Aunt's original owner '69 bug. It was in need of a total restore which is under way. The paint will be done this Sunday - all things remaining equal. It's an original A/C bug as well, which I intend to repair/upgrade. I thought, GREAT! I'm back into VW's again! I was excited. Well, enter 2 weekends ago, the Sacramento Bug0Rama. Fastbacks are still my Fav VW and there sets in the show area a red with flames '69 Fastback with auto trans. Well, who'd guess but my wife falls for that Fastback and asks me to buy it for her!! It had an auto so she can drive it, it's almost finished, paint wise (needs some more weatherstripping and interior work) and boy what a COOL ride! Needless to say, I jumped on that puppy and picked it up last Sunday. So, now I'm into this with a pair of '69's. I'm psyched! So that's it. Thanks for reading and I'll be reading the list as before. Oh, does anyone have...a stock dual carberator air cleaner they'd like to get rid of? The FB was converted to duals, but he lost the air cleaner when the parts cars went bye-bye and I need one asap! Thanks!! Regards, Tom Cloud '69 Bug '69 Fastback! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
