well, after replacing the oil cooler seals and pressure sensor hose, the car still won't idle when it's warmed up and it's hotter than say 70 degrees outside. this leads me to believe it's overheating? when i was replacing the oil cooler seals, i took off all that sheetmetal wrapped around the engine - what a waste of space. nah, just kidding - it's all in place. after driving for an hour or so in 100 degree weather, the air filter (stock) can be nearly too hot to touch. my bellows are in place and in good condition; never been touched. the engine's a bit dirty, especially down below, would cleaning it really increase the amount of heat dissipated that much? i'm using platinum plugs: i seem to recall someone saying once that these ran hotter or something? my timing (should have been) set properly a month ago, but i'll do it again at the weekend. the only other thing i can think of would be that the oil cooler is blocked (seemed to drain ok when i was cleaning it, and the seals hadn't broken up, so it's not like there's bits of rubber in it, hopefully). any other suggestions? sonny ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
