Hi volks, some of you may recall..or not...my 69 squareback automatic and it's idiosyncrasies. Well the problem of occasionally not going into drive hs gotten worse so I'm not faced with what to do? I talked to a guy at a tranny shop and he said the seals were probably dried out and a rebuild would start at $600.00 PLUS parts if he could get any...(I told him they were otters and the reason I had them was because they were afraid of the water) I bought a previously owned trans at a vw show, but I don't know if it is really any better or worse than mine. So ...should I try putting in the spare trans ( how hard is this to do?)and hope it works better than new? Or do I bring it to a shop for a rebuild? $600.00 is a lot of money...and are new seals actually available....Or do I retire it? :( someone please point thanks allan Allan Bonedaddy Erush Skeletons In My Closet Productions Visit us before we visit YOU!..............at: http://home.att.net/~allistair ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
