[T3] Geekdom of ECU

Fellow Type 3er's,

Upon opening up an ECU and observing the analogue simplicity
of it's insides+ADs- I was hoping that perhaps some other electronic typed
person, (I'm ex-navy nuke) having done the same, was perhaps lucky
enough to chase down schematics of the ECU, and perhaps obtain a
common trouble-shooting guide, (VW or Bosche techs may have used?)
or maybe drawn up schematics . My goal here is to perhaps come up with
a way for we, Type 3, FI, people to be able to repair/send to repair
their failed units as to bring about a refurbished ECU supply.
To me this would beat sending them to file 13, due to an +ACQ-0.18 resistor/
transistor burning out or poor solder joint. Has anyone ever repaired
them on this level? Or perhaps taken two shot units and made one good
one? How about other FI parts? Anyone refurbished the TSP, and such?
This antique auto restorer would like to know.

All thoughts and ideas welcomed,
