If Im not mistaken, I believe that the pressure relief valve is there for some reason, e.g. save the engine from too high pressure levels at high rpm or high viscosity, or cold oil. Okay, but what can possibly happen? My guess is that if the pressure reliefe valve is taken away and replaced with this "slick" oil return adapter, there is a great risk that you will blow the original oil cooler or its gaskets to pieces, most likely at a moment when the engine is running at high rpm = major bearing disaster, and substantial pollution of oil in your engine compartment and on the road... But its possible that the "slick item" has some kind of relief function within itself, I dont know. Cant tell from the picture. In that case its a tempting solution for leading back the filtered oil to the engine. I have recently broken a good block (sigh) while trying to bore and tap a connection pipe into the lubrication channel, so im not very found of that solution either.
