'Reinforced': Two layers of neoprene line, with cloth braiding between. Commonly referred to at places like NAPA as 'neoprene fuel line;' which is for some reason different than common fuel line. I have never purchased 'common' fuel line, or really seen it, for that matter. Parts counter folks always shooing me away from it. 'VW': 'High-Pressure' line with cloth braiding on the outside (I believe the smaller (6mm) line is white, and the larger, FI stuff (7mm) is black, could be wrong). Recent discussions with my VW FLAPS tell me that the VW hose stands up to the heat generated in our air-cooled engines better. I have had cracks and blowouts with both kinds of hoses, but can not ever remember either just quitting without a reason; stress, age, damage. I *do* only buy decent hose, and I only run the VW hose on my VW's. But that didn't prevent me from having a small and otherwise unremarkable fire in my Square; but the lines are (were) who knows how old. > -----Original Message----- > From: oofacts@earthlink.net [SMTP:oofacts@earthlink.net] > Sent: Thursday, October 22, 1998 3:19 AM > To: type3@vwtype3.org > Subject: Re: [T3] fuel line replacement > > Hey should those of us with carbs also be using 5/16" fabric reinforced > fuel lines?
