i must agree that an upright in the notch would recirculate, start sucking hot air and defeat the attempt to cool. BUT, on the other hand, the 2 pulleys on the upright make the fan turn at about 1.5(?) times crank speed. And, of course, the original will be turning at crank speed. If the upright WAS/IS used, maybe they could make custom ducting from back(front?) side of "tombstone" where ambient air is sucked in, and, on the other side, have this ducting suck in air from....? Somewhere the air isnt so hot. Maybe tap it into the original louvers? Like I said, this would be custom. Also i would like to thank the other listees for their product reports - padded dash, and availability of orig.- style windo rubber. I have all new windo rubber from WCM. Is of very high quality, and about 2 years old. No splits, cracks, nothin. And Im out here in blazin hot Vegas - 120 degree summers with about minus zero humidity. WCM also has VERY good catalog,as does RMMW. Anyone without these catalogs, GET THEM!! THEY ARE GREAT! Oops, I forgot, my rubber is cal look, so some of you may lose interest. But still, its HIGH quality, you have to look very close to see where they laser(?) spliced it. Also, about using other model's rubber, and cutting to right diameter, Isaw pictures of sq.backs at shows in the mags, where the " c - pillar " is cut out and 1 solid long piece of glass used , behind the doors. im sure they probably used said method of cutting a few pieces to right diameter. But the splicing...? ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
