I prefer the fabric covered stuff, as it soaks up and evaporates small amounts of fuel leakage and you can spot the problem without looking for the flames. I now only use genuine VW marked line, as there was some look-alike stuff around maybe 4 years ago that was useless; 2 years maximum, and I had to replace it all. I bet the new VW stuff won't last the 20 years that the first line did though. I doubt that grease would affect fuel line - would it? It's not natural rubber, but neoprene surely? Dave.
