I bought a kit with 12 helicoils, the tap and insert tool. I figured I might have to do this again at some point... Since the engine was still in the car I drilled the hole out with a 1/4 inch drill bit, tapped it and screwed in the helicoil. When I re-installed the stud and put the plate on, everything went together fine. I will keep an eye on the nuts and oil seepage from the plate over the next few days to make sure everything is together properly.
