Can't be that, the tricolour (normal to me) lenses have a reflecting
section between the back-up section and the tail-light.  It has a
flat sheet of polished aluminium behind the lens bobbles.  Maybe the
red ones have a TIR type reflective circle.  I know the fronts have
side reflectors on US spec.
