VW Factory timing information (for engine numbers R0255001 to
R1029302) says of the 1500S engines:
"Note:  1500S advance curve starts at less than idling rpm; remove
two plug leads to reduce tick-over for adjusting timing.  Max rpm
for timing = 700; vacuum hose pulled off.  Timing 10 deg BTDC"
