Exactly why it isn't a good idea.  If some of the oil is being bypassed then
it's not being filtered!  Also, a proper setup won't have to worry about
leaks
or blow-by and luckily this is very easy to accomplish.

The HP1 is a standard filter -- in the US at least thanks to the many old
American cars still on the roads -- and easy to find.

There is no difference between this option and the pump cover method.  Lines
still must be routed.
