RJ - Rusty (?) aluminum....don't think that will happen....8^) As for the lower grade steel....don't know, but during the mid seventies many American car companies looked at deleting the finish primer coat of paint on the car to cut costs. This lead to faster rust out and peeling paint, especially on light color and metallic cars. Turns out the conductive primer (e-coat) put on before the primer was very sensitive to uv light. The finish primer would protect this e-coat from uv, but when the finish primer was deleted the e-coat would breakdown under the uv light and the top coat would not stick good. Very messy situation... John Jaranson 71 FI Auto Fastback ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
