Welcome to the family Donovan, I, too, was interested in the FI to carbs conversion when I first joined the T3 list. Fortunately I had (and have)enough other things to do to my Fastback before I got to the engine, that I was able to sit back and follow the Fi vs. carb debate on the list for over a year. I have been convinced that the stock FI system on our cars can be made reliable and less troublesome then carbs. I am going to be keeping the stock FI system in my car. (At least until I can afford an aftermarket FI system and the performance engine to go with it, right Toby E?) I DO plan to be a member of the DARK SIDE gang, however. Mild body modifications, lowered, lower porofile tires, more modern interior, etc. (I can almost hear Jim and Keith sniffling now :^) ) I just choose to keep the powertrain stock and reliable (1600 FI Automatic Trans). (That should cheer them up....I have not completely crossed over) Signing on to this list is probably the best thing you could do. The information and advice available is invaluable, and all will be willing to help no matter which direction you choice. You just need to make the choice for the right reason, not out of lack of understanding of the FI system. OK, I will stop the sermon now......sorry about that. :^) John Jaranson 71 FI Auto Fastback (straddling twilight) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
