Re: [T3] Gauging metal

Toby, you should look for a copy of HP Books "Welder's handbook", sorry I
don't have the #s here, it's available at any major bookstore or the
Eastwood catalog. I also have a high-school welding class book that I got
from Eastwood that explains the various processes of welding in full gory
detail. I myself am looking at a Hobart 'Handler 120' (~$500.00 from
Grainger) because it uses 115 VAC and can handle thin sheet metal pretty
well. The Lincoln 'weld-pac 100' (~$300.00 at Home Depot) also looks like a
capable 115 VAC machine, but is set up for flux-core wire as sold - no gas
involved, but to get the full use out of the machine, you have to buy a 'MIG
conversion' pack for another $89.00. The Miller welders seem to be
comparably priced, but I prefer the Lincolns from my own experience - I've
also used a Handler that a buddy of mine has and liked the performance.
Please keep us updated on your research and/or choice.
