Well, I'm not that happy with my oil pre-cooler (secondary oil cooler, confusing, I know). On paper it looked solid but in reality it doesn't do much. I hate reality! Back to the drawing board... In talking with Brian Fye he said that I might as well go full custom instead of my current focus (stock/very generic parts for ease of replacement and simple installation) since my car is far from stock. Guess I needed someone to tell me that point-blank because it really made sense and actually doesn't constrain my possibilities. Go to http://www.kymcovw.com/Media/pdfs/super_cooler.pdf and you'll see my next step. Everyone Brian and I have spoken to have sworn by this setup so what the hell, I'm gonna do it! I have the cooler, fan and thermostat. Next step is to get quick disconnect couplings and more oil lines (groan, that braided stuff is spendy!). My new location will be above and forward of the starter in the, yes I know, the dreaded tranny area <cue suspense music>. The other option would be up front, running oil lines in the shift tunnel (Brian's idea, cool huh?) but I'm not too keen on the distance, using the spare tire area for the radiator, etc. I haven't started yet, just getting parts. I'll keep y'all updated as things progress.
