If you mean that he thought that lug bolts were not as strong as studs and lug nuts, then you have just met an all-american mechanic who can't imagine that something different from the way american cars do it might be just as good. He's wrong. This system works fine for VW, Mercedes, Porsche, and others. (Does anyone know about BMW and Audi?) Not too shabby for engineering company. > today I discovered the fuse blows when I press on the brakes, so I am > guessing the switches work enough to send current to the short. Am I > correct? Perhaps to the old horn wire that is inside the steering column where it had chaffed and shorted to ground causing the previous owner to try an alternative rather than fix the problem. I'd look there first. Then look around to see what else he changed while he was trying to figure out that problem. The tail light is probably just a burned out bulb. Start there. > Any help would sure be appreciated, but I think I'm in over my head here > without a multimeter and a garage. You can buy a cheap multimeter at Radio Shack, or even spend a bit more on a good Fluke 73 or 22.
