Hello all... Today I finally made it to the local inspection station to have them perform the state safety and emissions inspections on my newly restored 73 FI fasty...the car passed the safety inspection without problem, and passed the emissions inspection with flying colors (see results below). However, while driving to work afterwards it seems the engine is having a few problems: At idle, after the car warms up, the engine surges a bit...like RMRMRMrmrmrmrmrRMRMRMrmrmrmrmr (thats the best I can do to represent the sound)...it pulls away from lights very well, but stumbles here and there while maintaining high RPMs (like on the highway) and power suffers at speed. It doesn't hesitate accellerating, but rather once accelleration has evened out, and I'm trying to maintain a speed, the car hesitates (almost like its missing a cylinder). Here are the results of my 2-speed emissions test: IDLE: 745 RPM, HC ppm 398 (up to 600 allowed), CO% 0.26 (up to 6.00 allowed) 2500: 2586 RPM, HC ppm 47 (up to 600 allowed), CO% 0.10 (up to 6.00 allowed) Also, then engine seems like it may be running a tad hot, but I'm not sure (no temp gauge on this one yet). Any ideas? Could I have the fuel pressure too low? Many thanks in advance! -Doug 69 auto FI square 73 FI fasty 98 NB douglas_brashear@mail.amsinc.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
