Hi Folks! I'm new here, so please be gentle... :) I've been on the VINTAGVW list for many years. Well, I just bought a '65 Type 3 Ghia and am going to need some help. I'm new to the world of Type 3. I understand the basics from owning two Type 1's and being around friends' Type 1's since about 15 (about 16 years). There are those little differences though, that I might need a little assistance. OK, first off, the car has been (somewhat) converted to 12 volts. I haven't had any luck in finding a proper way to drop voltage to the radio and clock. Any ideas? How about the windshield wipers? I am VERY rusty on my electronics knowledge, but the PO had those round metal and porcelain resister/volt drop deals. I'd always heard that you wire two in series on the + side of the load (i.e. radio). I wired it in line to the radio. I measured the voltage and it showed 12 volts with the radio off, 10 volts with it on. Does that sound right? Maybe the amps are way lower? The radio sounded fine too! It's a Blaupunkt AM/FM/LW (marine). I got the clock working thanks to Greg's article on vwtype3.org. Thanks Greg! Anyway, any help will be MUCH appreciated!
