I have spent the weekend acting on the suggestions from the list - trying to improve my fuel economy and performance. I did not get far into the process before I came upon a problem. I had routine maintenance done (plugs, injectors, and valve adjustment) by a local air cooled shop about a year ago. This weekend I found that they had cross threaded the #3 plug -ugh! - I then spent two days working to restore the threads and insert a sleeve and a new plug. It works! It was not cheap, about $40 for tap, sleeves, and locktite. Once the plugs were changed I put in new points and checked the wires. Everything as far as the ignition seems to be in good working order. I checked the fuel pressure of the FI at the test point between the #3 and #4 cylinders - it is about 29 which I believe to be good - I did not adjust. I just need to get my hands on a timing light to check and/or to adjust the timing. Toby, I appreciate the recent posting concerning the rear deck lid seal. I picked up weather-stripping according your specifications. I hope to put it in this weekend. Thanks for all the suggestions - I trust that I will begin to see the fuel mileage rise out of the teens. 73 T Gary Fisher Greenville, SC
