Yes, timing can make a difference.  Have it checked.  Make sure the
cooling
flaps are working properly and all the engine tin is there and bolted
down.

If the case is engine overheating then a good amount of damage has
occurred to
your engine already, I hope you are keeping the [quality] oil fresh.
