Saturday morning started out gray & wet. I was exactly wanting to drive my bug in foul weather so I bidded my time sitting around the house watching the Weather Channel hoping for the best in the way of a break in weather. After changing the oil in my wife's car, a Mazda, Andrew, my youngest son that will be driving the Fastback once it is roadworty, took off for Sevierville about 90 or so miles from home. We decided to take the bug. We did run into a few scattered showers along the way, but nothing heavy or long. In fact the further west we drove, the clearer it became. But enough for the weather report. We arrived prtty late , about 2:30. There was a really good crowd at the fairgrounds where the event was held. As we arrived the VWs were being lined up for a parade around the downtown Sevierville area. BTW, Sevierville is the hometown of Dolly Parton. There were more Type 2s that any thing else. I guess because of the attraction of the campgrounds. There was a good represention by the Type 3s too. One very nice e Notch, a '66 I think, several Squares of different years & one '71 Fast. There were plenty of vendors hocking their wares & many people selling & swapping parts. All in all, considering how lousey the day started, it ended very well. I also got to meet a fellow listee there. His name is Buck. I really enjoyed meeting & talking with him. PS Buck, I'll let you know if & when I hear anything about the Show & Shine in Bristol.
