HELP....... I'll try and make this as short a letter as possible..... Last summer I proceeded to rebuild my 1904 cc engine in my squareback.......after rebuild it wouldn't fire on cylinders 1 and 3.....I tried everything to get it to work.....Thought in the end it might be the Cam.......I did have the distributor in correctly....... Well....I asked Berg about a new cam and he said he wouldn't recommend one for that size engine in a typ3....I had another engine to rebuild so rebuilt it (a1600)...with new cam....a D1....very mild..... new cylinders....reground crank 10/10........Same problem.....1 and 3 cylinders don't fire......turned the whole thing over to someone else..... he rebuilt the carbs....solex 32s......did leak down test.....running compression test showed it was a little low on 1 and 3.....but the static test shows them good....over 100.....tried all sorts of vacumn leak tests.....I am really stumped....I have one more t3 engine to try.... bone stock....but something seems fishy here with two engines with the same problem.....the guy seems to think this cam is bad....since both cylinders run off the same lobe on the cam......He's got a professional shop with all the equiptment to check it out......and I'm not lame on the engine business....just thought someone else would find something I was over looking.......Anyway....I'm shooting this out to a broader audience in hopes that someone will come up with something.....I offered this up before and was offered the distributor solution.....Been there done that.....
