A halogen bulb will not work. The dual filament halogen style bulbs that can be used with some cars' reverse lights won't work in the backup lights for pre-1970 T3's. They probably would not work in late models either unless you use some type of adapter in the socket for the bulb. I have used these before on my 914, but for the cost, it was not worth it IMHO. Another point would be is it legal? Most cars imported from Europe to North America come minus the rear, red fog lamp, even if there is a provision for it somewhere in the lamp housing or under the rear bumper (A3 Golfs for example, even have the place for the Hella lamp to be mounted under the bumper). Don't know why though. These lights (although annoying when there is no fog) can be lifesavers. Just a thought. Patrick
