T3: Re: Web Site Help List

Volks, how about something relatively simple like this?

Some info about yourself:

Jake Kooser (jake_k@ibm.net) <-- real name and e-mail address in case
it's different
13340 SW 82nd St. <-- Street address (optional or by
direct e-mail request)
Miami, Fl 33183 <-- City, State, Zip (mandatory
for a general idea of location)
(305)752-1288 <-- Home Phone number (optional /
direct request)
(305)392-1652 <-- Work Phone (if your boss
won't get ticked off)
Member of ___ Club <-- If you're in a club, that's more
potential help

Some info about your ability/desire to help out a fellow listee:

Garage / No Garage <-- Put "no garage" if you're not
willing to share it for a day or so!
Tools & floor jack <-- Got 'em or not? Or does
somebody need to bring their own?
Help / Stand around and learn <-- What are you willing or able to do
for a fellow listee?
I know lots about _______ <-- Have a specialty? Let somebody
know!
I have ____ Manuals <-- References are good
I have know how to _____ <-- Pull an engine? rebuild it? un-lower
a notchback? what?

Some info about what cars you have:

Type III's owned <-- With details of Greg's choice
for a "registry"
Other air-cooled VW's <-- Like that roadster project I've
been dragging around forever

And finally, the extra mile:

I have towing/trailer capability <-- Wanna share your good fortune?
and how far away?
You can crash on my couch <-- VERY optional, just remember - after 3
days, fish and guests start to stink

This should be enough to start a riot. I have had a good time meeting
fellow listees when I was in Texas on vacation (okay, okay, maybe when
Big Al and I started wrestling over the last fortune cookie at the
chinese buffet is an exception), and I think that with some common sense
applied, we can share a lot more information than we already do. The
'crash on the couch idea' isn't mine, but rather inspired by Chank
Diesel, a guy who makes fonts - he has an "artist-in-residence" program
which is a thinly disguised method of getting out of staying at a
hotel. Sounded cool to me, just don't take the last cup of coffee
unless you make more. All these ideas are up to your own discretion,
obviously. Oh boy, this is gonna be interesting. Gotta go now, I'm
packing my car up so I can go to Jim's house.

Jake Kooser
