Okay, I called a local auto place and they needed more info. The guy I talked to actually knew what type 3's were so that was a bonus. He said that a match might be possible, it would have to be a universal type pump. Some questions: -Does anybody know what amperage the T-3 FI pump draws? I don't have any info on that kind of thing in my VW books. -Also, do you need to have a pump with that fuel return valve thing on it, or can you just use an in/out type pump and have the returning fuel connected to the outlet? The more I think about that one, the less it seems possible. Maybee if there were some kind of in-line valve I could use (letting the returning fuel go to the outlet stream, while not letting the outlet stream fuel flow into the returning fuel line). Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Most current US FI pumps reside in the tank, kind of hard to mount. Type IV pumps are close if not identical, likewise Type II FI pumps and Porshe 914 pumps. I think you'll find that cost-wise, the VW TIII pump is one of the less expensive ones. If you can find a cheaper replacement, let the list know.
