Text item: Text Item Okay, I'm gonna remove the engine as well as my tranny. I only have a small (2 1/5 ton) rolling floor jack and I have a GB 1.5 sump on the bottom of the engine and I know I can't use it as a resting point for the jack to lower the engine. Should I remove the engine & tranny together or separate? How do I balance these units together and separate -- should I make a wooden (4x4s and 2x4s) cradle for the units (if taken down singularly) or one cradle (if units are taken down together)? Basically, how does one person remove the drivetrain? Okay, once it's dropped, however I do it, how do I move it?! With a sick Porsche 10 feet behind the VW I can't move the VW. Her rear is facing the garage door. Do I get a small football team to lift the rear end while I scoot the unit(s) out from under or ??? I do have a total of four jack stands, a scissors jack and a creeper -- whaddya think, MacGyver? I removed and cleaned the coupling cover. The rubber (?) shifting coupler looks great so I'm *not* going to replace it (it ain't broke, got too much else to fix). I haven't had a problem with my current performance shifter and I will be getting a GB shifter as it's specially modified for five-speed shifting. It's GB so I don't even question its quality.
