If Does it always die as soon as you reach freeway speeds? Does it go fine for a while and then lose power? Upon reconnecting it My '69 automatic would run with this switch disconnected electrically, but I believe it responded poorly to stomping on the gas pedal. > The "How To Keep Your Volkswagen Alive" book said that the throttle > switch must have a number specific to my engine, but the VW parts The '70 and later throttle switch will not fit on your '69 throttle body, and the later switches have too many electrical contacts in the plug to fit your car's wiring. Don't think you can really have the wrong part here. > place that sold me my current switch knew nothing about that. Would > an identical looking throttle-switch be the wrong one for my car? I believe that that '68 & '69 share the same switch, and that a later one would clearly not fit. Have you thoroughly inspected and adjusted the entire ignition system? (Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condensor, coil, timing and dwell?) In my experience, if you don't do this first you're only guessing! Good luck, -Greg '69 & '71 Squarebacks '63 Beetle
