I got the engine in, hooked everything up, adjusted the valves, point gap and timing. I started it up, and the generator light came on....and didn't go off, then i noticed that the acceleration was extremely hesistant. (i only had it running for about 30 seconds). So i shut it off and went around back to see if i could tell what was wrong......it was smoking a bit!!! i looked to see where the smoke was coming from, but i couldn't tell..."After the smoke cleared" i checked the connections to the generator and the belt tension, which were all correct..i checked the brushes which were also okay... so i checked the timing and point gap again (for lack of better ideas) and they checked out okay. Any ideas? I'm at a total loss here....i did everything by the muir book. ( i "resealed" the engine with a complete gasket set i bought). I definetly won't start it again, until i can figure out what's going on. Thanks. Robert.
