I don't know about the short, but here's a keen idea. The amplifier for
my stereo in the super beetle doesn't have a power switch, so I wired it
in with a toggle, and threw the functional-but-disconnected annoying
buzzer in the line with it. That way, when I turn off the ignition, the
buzzer screeches and reminds me to turn off the amp. Could also be used
as a headlight reminder with some trial and error and a transistor.
