RE: A coil is a coil is a coil?

First, what is AOTBE? That's new to me.

Second, to spruce up your coil just take your favorite aluminum beverage
can,
cut the top and bottom off, cut it in half (length-wise) at the seam, and
wrap
it around your current coil. I used a Budweiser can because I liked the
Budweiser Bikini Girls that were being advertised at the time (Navy days)
but I
think a Coors Lite would've been more appropriate :) Whatever you use,
performance in your mind will increase a little, much like how it improves
after
giving the car a bath.

But really, volks, a high ignition coil won't do too much.
Horsepower/torque
may increase by .5% (wild guess). Mileage will probably improve a little
bit
(1-2 mpg) because misfires will be lessened. Of course, you will want to
use
bigger spark plug wires to transfer all this extra energy, unimpeded as much
as
possible, to a good spark plug.

I believe that if you get either a capacitive discharge (CD) or computerized
coil you will gain some improvement but it will be noticeable on paper more
than
"by the seat of your pants". That is, torque and mileage will be better but
it
may not be quite as noticeable than, say, installing a turbo. With my
computerized coil my mileage increased 2mpg right away (THAT made me
*happy*).
I know my torque improved when it came to hill climbing but the car itself
didn't feel any faster. I haven't had the tools to perform any proper time
trials so I can't say for sure if they would improve, however, I believe
that
they would but more than likely it would be under one second.
