Of course you have to be sure that everything else is working right. Timing, dwell, valve lash. Make sure the charging voltage is up to 14.1-14.4V. To use the 72 parts you probably need to consider using a complete 72 system. there are other things that are different: FI wiring harness, throttle valve switch, distributor, vacuum advance, ignition timing....
