Matthew, The 185/55 and 195/60 combination shares the 135/165 visual theme. It also works well with all rim combinations. I run these tires on chromed 4.5 inch wide rims. I run into no clearance problems on the inside of the wheel well, although my car is not so low that the top edge of the tire is hidden by the front wing (fenders as we Americans call them). I don't feel that these front tires should be a problem, though. As for the rear tires, 195's will never pose a problem on the rear of a type 3 because there is just too much room. I hope these answers help. Kenik Hassel P.S. I actually ran into this tire combination as a result of a bus I read about in the fine British publication VolksWorld, so you can thank your countrymen for their ingenuity on this one.
