Today we swept the dust out of the workshop and started working on putting in our fiberglass pans from Innovations. I wanted to use the original seats, so we tried cutting the old pan out around the seat rail (the outer rails on both sides which are attached to the pan, not the ones on the transmission hump). By the end of the day we pretty much gave up on the idea of re-using the old seats and rails because it is so hard to get the rails in the right place. The metal just doesn't conform to the shape of the fiberglass pan. We don't want to hack away at the pan for fear of weakening it. My husband likes the idea of getting some bolt-on seats that recline and have head rests. He would just weld some angle iron for a base. Does anyone have recommendations for bolt-on seats? Have any of you successfully installed fiberglass pans in a T3? If so, we would like to read some tips before we spend any more quality time with the Makita reciprocating saw...I swear to you that we will someday drive this car!!!!
