The question is -- Is the Value equal to the Investment? When we restored this Squareback, it was planned to be a re-engineered vehicle for today's roads with the best components available, built and installed by the best contractors we could find. For example: we did not put together the SCAT 2160cc engine kit; it was built by professionals--B&R Buggies in Oceanside, CA. We did not do the woodwork; it was done by Bill Hogan--a master craftsman, cabinetmaker of 30 years experience. The headliner and seat upholstery were done by a person who has 20 years experience in car interiors and produced cars for movies. We took the car down to bare bones, bought the best parts we could find (all new), then found the best contractors to build and install. Professional restoration adds the value. Our plan was to build a new car that looked like a ''73 VW Squareback. We think we have succeeded; it is a handmade car, with the performance of a new car without the depreciation. We don't see ourselves as having more money "than we know what to do with". On the contrary, we think we have made a wise investment of lasting value.
